He's Austrian...right. As much as me. I suppose as he was born in Austria. He''s blood is Serb.

"Arnautović was born in Floridsdorf, a district in the northern part of Vienna to a Serbian father and an Austrian mother."

I'd say that enables him to class himself as Austrian?

Re: Marko Arnautovic
Agree about the importance of a pair of forwards who will track back and wide. Sakho and Valencia did it fantastically for a few months under Sam.

The likes of Carroll, Chic and Ayew really do have to used as a plan B because the entire pattern changes when they are on the pitch. In my opinion they could all leave and Bats from Chelsea should be a target as he also fits the profile of our current team. It's such a shame that Sakho has a screw lose as he is fairly near perfect as well when he is right.

Good points. It's also quite easy to tweak that lineup into a 3-4-3 at times by either Antonio or Arnautovic staying wide - I think that's how the team basically operates a good proportion of the time. We definitely looked a 3-4-3 towards the end of the stoke match.

I also think it's really the only way to play two players up front, if they are both flexible enough to track back wide. Both of these players do that naturally where other choices probably wouldn't.

I think that is down to the players. They must have some licence.

Putting him and Antonio in the 9 and 10 roles has also had a positive effect on Lanzini for me. I've always been in the minority preferring him to have a deeper starting position where his positive clever play can have more of an effect on our general pattern.

Moyes seems to have found a decent balance with this squad. Our personnel is suited to the 352 with the exception of having to find traditional wingers roles for Arnie and Antonio. Slav came up with the disastrous 424 to accommodate them and two of the forwards. Moyes has been brave to make six big money (big ego) players compete for two spots.

Another problem was that with three at the back the onus is on one of the defenders to push into mid park to nick the ball with the same player getting a fair amount of time and space on the ball in a comfortable area. Slav had Fonte in this role and it didn't really suit him for many reasons but Creswell was a good solution and it created a spot for Arthur.

Re: Marko Arnautovic
Arnautovic did an interview after he signed saying West Ham were a bigger more ambitious club than Stoke. I think that may have had something to do with his reception. Hughes seems to have done his best to gee things up as well, delighted that it backfired and Arnie put on his best performance for the club so far. Hughes antics on the touchline basically send out the message that he's losing the plot there.

Good point - Arnautovic has played slightly different positions in each of the last 3 matchs imo. Against Chelsea I felt he was constantly tracking back down the left flank. Against Arsenal he seemed to more obviously play central off Antonio as the no 10. Against Stoke he was the furthest forward, with Antonio playing off him. Quite subtle differences but marked i think - I wonder if Moyes is just experimenting with different tweaks, or are the players just naturally settling in these different roles on the pitch?

Re: Marko Arnautovic
We have an unjustified reputation for slagging off our ex-players when they come back to play against us.

We slag them off only when they show disrespect to our club.

Lampard Jr: made highly derogatary remarks about us after he left. Full deserved his slating when he came back in a chelsea shirt.

Ince: the photo in a Man Utd shirt when he was still a West Ham player. Fully deserved.

Defoe: put in a transfer request the day after we got relegated and then got himself sent off three times to force a sale. Fully deserved.

But other players have been welcomed back with a standing ovation. When Tevez first came back with Man Utd the cheering delayed the kick off.

Joe Cole is another good case study. He slagged us off, made enemies of his old club but then redeemed himself by funding medical are for an ex-hammer in need out of his own pocket.

On the whole we get these things spot on.

But why would the Stoke fans boo and jeer Arnautovic ? I'm not aware of anything he ever said or done to insult them.

Maybe they are just a bunch of ill-educated northern monkeys.

I think he was played more as a No 10 though when hen he played central for stoke where as he was played as a No 9 as far as I could see Saturday

He was getting stick from the inbreds all game, so I was glad that he gave it back.

What did he do to warrant such abuse? It's not like he left on bad terms or slagged the club or fans off.

They have no class.

Lot of Stoke fans saying they liked him starting in the centre with licence to drift left.

It also keeps Lanzini central which has been positive for us.

Re: Marko Arnautovic
What do you think is so bad about what Hughes did that justifies the FA getting involved? He was pissed off, because his team were beating roundly beaten and he'd been wound up by Arnautovic. Splendid.

The FA may well have consigned my complaint to the WPB but at least I did something rather than moan on a forum about people that actually get of their pathetic arses to do something about a massive cunt like Mark Hughes.

Re: Marko Arnautovic
Definitely got a bit of the Di canio about him....
In temperament and playing style....looks like they'll be aplenty of ability and plenty of toys getting launched from the prom left right and centre
Have to credit moyes for putting him up top and recognising he won't track back....could be the making of him reckon that's why Hughes had the hump wondering why he didn't think of that

Blimey you're so funny Coffee. Anyhow, I emailed the FA a complaint about Mark Hughes behaviour after Arnie was substituted. I referred them to TV footage and asked if managers will be doing this every week now...?

I hope they shoved it straight in the FA WASTEBASKET you sad old cunt...
